The Business Case for Online Collateral Management

We have clients leveraging systems for collateral management as well as
direct mail, list management, email blasting, ad creation and promotional item
fulfillment. Putting marketing tools such as these in the hands of sales
reps, dealers, channel partners etc. can improve a company's marketing efforts,
thereby increasing return on investment while saving time and money. This is
not to say that an on-line tool should replace all existing marketing efforts,
but rather act as an enhancement.

Dodd makes the case that an online system can "eliminate waste and
inefficiencies" which, will "produce substantial cost savings and
streamline the processes that surround production." We have customers that
have seen these same results with their online systems. Having said this before
employing an online system a company, as Mr. Dodd suggests, needs to conduct an
evaluation of its current marketing supply chain. He suggests that the
answers to three basic questions can provide a preliminary understanding of how
to proceed.

Assuming a marketing management system makes sense, today's technology allows
companies to deploy an online system without significant expense. Once
the system demonstrates its value it can then be expanded to offer more
services.
