Complaining for a Cause: #BlameDrewsCancer Lets you Simultaneously Tweet, Vent, and Raise $ for Research

Your shower ran out of hot water, you couldn't find your keys, and at some point in the middle of the night, your dog claimed your new pair of shoes as a midnight snack. Which, of course, you discovered this morning when you stepped in the inevitable outcome of a patent leather flat mixed with a Golden Retriever's digestive system.

Blame Drew's cancer.

Sadly, Drew Olanoff, , founder of the "Best Damn Tech Show, Period", one of the most popular podcasts around, was recently diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma. Most people in this situation would take the news badly. Complaining about such a difficult circumstance is only natural, and the multitude of social media outlets one can use to vent one's frustration provides numerous opportunities to tweet, blog, vlog and music video to the heavens how much life can suck. Only now, thanks to Drew, in partnership with the American Cancer Society and the Make-A-Wish Foundation, your rants, whines and general complaints can actually help make a difference for cancer research!

For every new person who uses #BlameDrewsCancer in a tweet, $1 will go to these charities, helping to fund research toward finding a cure for cancer, and making the lives of current cancer patients a little brighter.

So, if the Red Sox lose today, blame Drew's cancer.
If it rains and you left your umbrella in the car, blame Drew's cancer.

As for my job search taking longer than I'd like, well, we all know who's at fault for that one.

That's right, Drew's cancer, I'm looking right at you.

That is a wonderfully innovative way to fundraise, it uses humor, takes little of people's time, and helps donors by letting them know that life can have much more serious problems.

Lately I can't decide if I've got a lot to complain about or very little. All depends on the focus.
Regardless, I'll complain on twitter, and use your suggested tag.
thanks - good idea.
