What can happen if statistics meet chemistry

Statistics seems like the most widely used natural science around. Statistics in Geology is geo-statistics; while it takes care of bioculture and plants, enviroment contamination it is bio-statistics; while it's in marketing it is financial-statistics, while it is adopted by physicists, they began to build up the luxurious thermodynamics theory. Then, what will happen if statistics meet chemistry. By now, someone has also used in chemistry, doing research about chemical space, which will only stay in the lab for years.

What will be the best and special project for someone who has both statistics and chemistry background? something close enough to improve people's daily life, something practical enough to make profits. I have been thinking about it for a while, no good answer yet. Want to join the discussion? feel free to add your comment.
