Hey Product/Brand Managers-- Don't miss Product Camp Boston, 5/22

Do you develop products, want to learn about developing products, or just love to read about the latest new developments on Engadget or TechCrunch? Were you camped outside the Apple store at 2AM so you could be the first person in town to pick up the new iPad?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, check out Product Camp Boston! It's a free "un-event" on 5/22 at the Microsoft NERD center… Continue

Tiny Budget, Big Impact: 3 Techniques for Marketing on the Cheap

I am certain that most people in this community have some experience with cuts to their company's marketing budget over the past few years. Add to this group the number of entrepreneurs bootstrapping their entire operation, and it becomes clear that effective marketing "on the cheap" has probably never been more critical. Below are a few techniques to achieve more bang for a very small buck, if you can afford to invest your time.

1. Leverage the power of social…

The Biggest Market Most CPG Companies Ignore

Remember that laundry detergent commercial where the 30-something dad happily cleans a load of his kids' soccer uniforms, then neatly folds them on top of the dryer?

Me neither.

In fact, the only laundry detergent commercial I have ever seen that featured a man involved the poor guy completely bemused over what to do, as if the act of washing clothes was so infinitely complicated, it required a Ph.D in home economics to attempt. Thankfully, his wife was around to… Continue

It's not Just Marketing--Everything Your Company Does is Reflective of Your Brand

There was a very touching story from the AP today about how Pixar fulfilled the dying wish of 10 year old girl with cancer. She desperately wanted to see the new movie UP but was too weak to get to the theater. A family friend called Pixar, and the next day, an employee came to the girl's house with the DVD, allowing her to see the movie. She passed away a few hours later.

I'm not sure exactly… Continue

Hi Lauren! I'm just breaking into marketing, so I'm not sure what branding topics are most interesting. I just know I had a c*ap load of fun branding products at my company over the past year. So cool to see customers start using our terminology! What's your background?
At 5:27pm on January 6, 2010, Jaya Bidkar said…
Hi Lauren, thank you for the welcome. I really like reading about how brands take different meanings in different cultures, and how brand managers need to adapt to changing trends around the world. Please do suggest some good readings on these if you can. Looking forward to connecting more.
