Taking our textbooks online. Where to start?

In educational publishing, we traditionally generate the majority of our revenue from hard copy texts. Education has always been a bit behind. Most of the online or interactive learning components ar…

Have any of you implemented a fully integrated publishing ERP? We are going through the evaluation process and while there's no perfect system, it seems like we are taking more steps back than forward when considering implementation costs and the lack of integration between modules. It's been a tough process. Any suggestions or referrals?

Hi Cathy. Yes, all forms of publishing. Print, online, and multimedia. I've actually been working on a marketing plan for an educational series right now. It's a Chinese language program that comprises traditional textbooks, supplementary online workbooks, audio CD's, and a set of DVDs that were shot on location in Beijing. For the online products we develop all of the content in-house but don't have a platform to deliver it, so it's powered by an e-learning vendor.

Products that offer so many options are sometimes confusing for customers. They don't know what they should buy first and if they're all different, etc., so I'm trying to find the most logical way to promote the whole series without it looking like a busy restaurant menu with hundreds of things to choose from.

Thanks for the group invite Jason! Does the group discussion include both print and online publishing?
